Hampi Hills Cabernet Sauvignon
This 2012 vintage is developing nicely. Still needs several years, as most Cabs do, but a pleasure to drink. Great depth and rich, dark fruit.

Mar 14th, 2017This excellent Cabernet Sauvignon from the Hampi Hills in India should be tasted blind against a number of California Cult Cabernets and the results would shock cult Cali Cab lovers. The wine is intense, deep, and rich in dark cassis and blue plum fruit that is balanced and mercifully not over oaked the way many Cali Cabs are. It is a joy to drink. This is a world class wine that will compete well with much more expensive new world style Cabs from California and Australia, and which studiously avoids the curse of excess alcohol and oak that plagues many California and Australian Cabs. While this Cab is focused on competing successfully in the global market for fine wines, which it does, it is also by far the finest red wine from India I have ever encountered, and I spend a lot of time in India.
