Kurtatsch Cortaccia (Michael Chiarrelo)
Kofl Alto Adige - Südtirol Sauvignon Blanc
The pale yellow wine gives a hint of oak on the nose, along with citrus and stone fruit. The palate shows lemon, orange peel, apricot and that hint of oak. The grassy notes are kept to a minimum, which is fine with me, and leaves this as one of the tastier Sauvignons I have encountered.

May 6th, 2021Sauvignon from Alto Adige - an easy wine to like. Usually luscious, ripe, powerful, something to say. And so it goes again here...
I grabbed this guy from the clearance bin and only later realized I had visited the winery a few years ago, a big fancy glossy floored operation in the adorable town of Bolzano - the wine is humble and fits together in itself with sweet quirks and lots of umph.
Sticky grilled peaches garnished with cool mint and a Chartreusian blend of honeyed anise, dried orange peel, and peppery herbs.

I would take this over most bottles of Sancerre any day! I continue to be impressed with the wines from this region and need to make a trip out there.

Re-visiting this- damn it's good. I'm starting to think there is a small blend of semillon or viogner? The nose is so powerful with lemon pith...
