A pretty darned good example of classic Rioja if you ask me. It has that neutral American oak feel that really just showcases the good fruit and all that funky earthy goodness that comes from age. Pretty young for 12 years old, full of fruit and loads of spice. Fun to smell - pipe tobacco, saddle leather, cracked black peppercorn, charred cedar, crushed pomm seed, red plum, violets and a touch of grilled meat. Elegant in feel, ample fruit in the core still - dark raspberry and dark cherries, bell pepper, tobacco, boiled red apple skins, dried herbs, nutmeg, clove, star anise, and a long finish. With smoked Gouda, or other hard cheeses, the earth and funk all fall away, leaving a delicious fruitiness behind.

Ruby with garnet hues and rim variation. Nose offers black and red fruit. Notes of tart blackberry, dried cherry, plum, fig, and cranberry sauce. Subtle spice, saddle leather, and sweet tobacco notes. Tart red fruit on the palate with moderate acidity and noticeable tannins. Long finish.

New favorite from rioja. Big juicy plum with some good baking spice and hints of tobacco. Very smooth with easy drinking tannins.
