Luscious, almost creamy, vanilla scented black cherry and raspberry, spicy, smoky. Silky rather full on Pinot style with ripe black an red berry fruit, enough acidity to keep some freshness on the mid palate, drys out a touch on the finish (maybe oak influence) should come together with a bit more time in bottle.

We started seeing a bunch of articles about how this producer is the shiz, but I'd only knew it as the fancy top-shelf stuff at the Wine Rack, which is like knowing it as the fanciest thing you can order at McDonald's.
So, we were out shopping for new wine yesterday and we kept seeing CJ bottles that were out of our price range and I was like, "I'm pretty sure this is the fancy top-shelf stuff at the Wine Rack" and gave it side eye for several minutes until I remembered that I once purchased it on sale at the Wine Rack because I just had to know what McFillet Mignon tasted like. We set our new bottles aside and I dug this one out of the cupboard.
It paired well with ground chicken tacos, but we're both pretty sure the 2009 vintage is on the decline. If it's sitting in your cupboard, take tomorrow off work and take care of this.
