Zesty nose with lemon peel, green apple and a hint of lees derived creaminess. Palate is a touch strict with lemon peel, lemon fruit plus tart apple flavors. Fruit acid balance is just a touch out of sync which’s negatively impacts the texture. Finish is a touch lean.

For me, a much better tipple than the 16' Uchizy Les Maranches. Showing more elegance and grace. Crisp, salty, and quite powerful. Great value for the price, but perhaps even more so once it gains more complexity with bottle age.

NB: Interesting to note that Clos du Four is consistently Lafon's most mineral Macon site, courtesy of some vine age (> 30 yo) and really poor rocky soils. Also, the site's further south than Les Maranches. What a stark difference!
