Well made. At peak. Broken sticks, crushed blueberries, and a skitch too much latent fruit.

Balanced (as in elegant) = Nope!
Balanced (as in low alc.) = 15.6%
Balanced (as everything is in equal proportions) = Yep!
Balanced (as in enjoyable) = You bet your sweet...!!

(this would be a great wine to share with IPOB winemakers to hear some arguments).

Right out of the gate, this is breathtaking with deep dark black fruit and a hint of earthiness. Well integrated tannins that lead to a round, polished finish.

Alas, my last bottle of this wine…
Rich but cool in texture. Not hot nor jammy. Wonderful balance. Fresh black fruit, touches of black olive, damp earth, dark chocolate and black pepper.
Have followed this particular wine and vintage for over 12 years now, and I loved every bottle for its balance, complexity, hedonism and ability to deliver FUN!
Excellent QPR, as well.
Shafer’s Relentless, SQN, Bedrock and Lillian were my introduction to, and jumpstarted my fascination for, American Syrah back then…. and I am so glad to say that many more bottles and labels have found their way into my cellar. 🖤

Heady and massive. Big minerals blackberries, ink, and earth. Stops just short of hot. Thunderous.
