M. Chapoutier
De l'Orée Ermitage Blanc Marsanne

Interesting to have seen this against the Keller. It seems pretty unfair, for me at least, to have pitted a Marsanne against a Riesling, but there's surprisingly more similarities here than I'd like to admit. They were both highly intense, strongly herbal, almost-exotic in their fruit profile, and ungodly in length. Of course I preferred the Keller's striking incisiveness, but there's a certain elegance in the smoky minerality of the Chapoutier that's quite alluring. This is undoubtedly a RP100 - rich, oily, concentrated, and very full. Finishes deeply warming with a nutty bitter touch. Surprisingly, I actually liked this. Went well with our Chinese banquet.
