Marchese di Borgosole
Riserva Salice Salentino Negroamaro
This is a nice red Italian wine.
Showing red fruits with earth, leather, vegetables, wet leaves, tobacco and dark chocolates.
Medium-bodied with medium acidity.
Short finish with tangy cranberries and fine tannins.
Nice and easy drinking with food or all by itself. I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.
13% alcohol by volume.
86 points.
$13.

Drank 4/6/20. Decent with lasagne.
Scents of red cherry , plums, baking spice, and coffee bean. Ripe cherry, strawberry, a hint of blue fruit, and a touch of earth are supported by a backbone of medium tannins. A bit ripe, with the alcohol seeming a bit higher than the 13% reported. An Italian for those who like their wines a bit jammy.

Well I pulled the cork I did not like the nose at all seemed rather astringent. Think hot rubber tire meets petroleum. So off to a decanter for a breathe of fresh air. Seemed to do the trick after about 30 minutes. Hints of strawberries, hot soil and some oak showed up. Upon drinking it it had a sort of lingonberry meets raspberry but finished more towards the strawberry side of things. This is one that does get better sip by sip. Thought the acid was going to be higher but pleased it was not. I think this is one of those people are either like or hate. I fall on the like it side.

1 person found it helpfulOct 25th, 2019Light bodied Italian red. A nice alternative to Chianti. Lower in acid, pairs well with tomato based dishes since it adds balance. Earthy, a little leather. Very enjoyable.
