First try with my new Zalto Bordeaux glasses, Bordeaux was too cold so went with Rioja :-) the glass is amazingly light and the nose that comes out is superb. The wine is lightly brown, nose full of ripe fruits, cherries, plums, and then leather, tobacco and grilled almonds, body is full with lovely tannin that just fall into place, acidity is still there and will carry this wine for a while, finish is long, expressive and dry. I am no big Rioja fan, yet this wine is well done. My score 88, drink to 2025

2003, A lovely Rioja that has matured and rounded over the last 12 years, yet it is still full of live and had a decade to go. Deep ruby red, nose full of black fruits, cherries, plums, with a touch of spices, licorice, mint and olives, full body, rich , concentrated, firm tannins that have soften a bit, but still needs time, acidity is pleasant and balancing, medium to long finish. The wine has a few more years to go. My score 88, drink to 2022 perhaps longer.
