Matthiasson
Matthiasson Vineyard Cabernet Franc
The clippers give it away every time, this is the Cabernet Franc from Matthiasson and a firm nod of appreciation to its home back in the Loire. The one critique I would say is that is tastes like it was picked early (as expected from this producer) but maybe a touch too early as the tannins are a little drying and the acidity a little too noticeable, overpowering the finish taking it a little our of balance. A noble effort however as the right fruit and spice aromatics and flavors are present. Have a classic Chinon or if you have had one you know what I mean.

May 5th, 2016That's some good Cab Franc. Blue fruits on the nose and palate. Bright, yet rich at the same time. Really well done. Incredible balance. Just wow.

Nov 26th, 2015Certainly the prettiest Napa Cab Franc I've encountered. Floral aromatics really popped after an hour of opening.

Oct 21st, 2015PnP. Translucent red color. Bright cherries and strawberries along with green elements on the nose. Earthy, high OH, with some bite on the end. More Burgundy than Cab Franc. Short finish. If guessing blind, Cab Franc would be furthest from my mind.
