Very ripe wine, raspberry, spice and a good dose of ABV. Little big for me, but would have many followers.

Jul 27th, 2015Another Great 2012 Melville Pinot , aromas of crushed berries, blackberry, plum really intense fruit on 1st sip. Back label says only 240 cases produced. Thanks Liz!! for allowing us to sell this and for me to buy a couple bottles. Need 15-20 minutes to open. Will let all know tomorrow . CB

Oct 12th, 2014Another outstanding effort from Greg Brewer at Melville. The indigene series of their Small Lot collection is almost always my favorite. Brilliant strawberry on the nose coming from clone 115, but the use of indigeneous yeast (as opposed to innoculation) always seems to impart a subtle complexity to this wine despite being a single clonal bottling. Terrific spice on the nose and palate that I always associate with Melville (but far more subtle and integrated that what one finds in the Verna's, for example), this is what Santa Rita Hills pinot is all about. This is not my favorite incarnation of the 115 Indigene - that was the 2006 - but this is still a terrific wine. Across the board, for my money Melville is the best quality/price ratio for pinot you're going to find anywhere in the Central Coast.
