This is called ‘Héroes 86’ Malbec. It’s a special tribute to the World Cup champions of Argentina from 1986. There is a photo of two hands clutching the World Cup trophy on the label. The wine is dark as night. Purple. Aromas are inky and earthy. Hint of black licorice. Hint floral as well with some violet and iris notes. It’s got decent flavors. Get the anise, licorice bit. Fairly dense with a tannic bite. It avoids the grape punch, candy trappings of many cheaper Arg Malbec’s. This is pretty good wine. Worthy of that team that won it all. Lost out to the Spanish Marselan wine and soccer team this time though.
