Meulenhof
Erdener Treppchen Kabinett Riesling
So so good and not at all reflective of the $15 I paid (on clearance). Sweet rieslings are a hard sell for wine shops and I’ll continue to take advantage until the public eventually comes around. These wines are so misunderstood.
Meulenhof is a beautiful golden color and has a spectacular nose of petroleum, cinnamon, passion fruit, and baked lemon. Voluptuous and sweet with explosive fruit flavors. Think lemon verbena, lychee, honey, and orange marmalade.
Another treasure sourced from Terry Thiese.

Finally some pink rubber eraser - the parallelogram kind from school manifested in Riesling. This is served alongside aromas of Smokey diesel, lemon, and rye. I was expecting off-dry but this is nearly fully sweet with explosive fruit and good acidity to balance. Flavors of orange, honey, and red apple.

Oct 30th, 2018Pale honey color, fair amount of fizz forming on glass; not a huge amount of aromatics, but citrus (lime, pineapple) immediately apparent, along with a slightly metallic scent; mouthfeel is quite rich; honey and lime zest are the most prominent flavors; medium sweet with enough acid to keep it clean and bright. Delicious, long honied finish.
