Inkblot Lodi Tannat
Big is an understatement (as expected). 4 years in bottle, 3hrs in decanter (passed through Vinturi), and I still feel like I could have waited until 2026 to unleash this beast. Garlic/Rosemary crusted rack of lamb was on the menu, so I thought I'd take a shot. Much like my short game in Golf, I ended up on the other side of the green.
Deep black to purple Edge. Rich stewed blackberry filled nose with ample notes of coffee, black pepper, and cigar box. On the palate, the fruit was more restrained than expected with black pepper, and a distinct herbaceous-ness framing vanilla spiked black fruit, culminating in the raucusly tannic finish.

Faboulous. Dark, rich, fruity. This was bottle #5 for the group, but it was soberingly good.
