Moric
Burgenland Blaufränkisch
Burgenland, Austria

Blau Fränkisch is often compared with Pinot Noir. But the real comparison is with Gamay. It has a similar purplish hue and a lot of dark berry and black cherry with quite a bit of spice. Yet oddly where Gamay is grown l in the heat and perfrct for cold weather drinking, FB is grown in relatively cooler climes near Vienna and, to my palate, is really an ideal warm weather wine to be served slightly chilled.
