Beautiful herbal nose - oregano & thyme - a lovely weight & balance on the palate - a special wine

The winery rate the 2001 as a 10/10 vintage and one of the best since the 1995. Lovely herbal nose reminiscent of lantana. A descriptor which won't mean anything to non Australian tasters. Fuller fruit on the palate without overdoing it. Perfect balance showing why MW is one of the best Aussie Cabernets #aussiewine 18.5+

With its bright red fruit, dark floral perfume and refreshing acidic vein, this wine is still very much alive!
Bravo.

Even better on day two..! Fruit turns darker, nose more complex, palate deeper. Damp earth, smoke and grilled meat have been added overnight. Yum!

Dusty, earthy forestfruit, still quite primary. Lots of balance, weight and class.
Wonderful Cabernet.

Terrific Aussie Cab! Lovely concentration and typicité, oozing crunchy blueberries and crème de cassis. Enough acidity, minerality, umami, focus and restraint to satisfy my classical/traditional preferences.

Pure and energetic. Plenty of primary fruit, despite its 14-years. Wonderfully subtle tinderbox aromas and fine, complex tannins.

Suboptimal bottle? Reductive notes, rosehip, murky and muddy. There are much better bottles of this...
