This was my last 2008. See several previous Delectable notes. Typically reliable Moss Wood Cabernet.

See previous notes for the 2008 from April and October 2020. Always one of Margaret River’s better Cabernets that I have been buying for decades. Consistent notes from 2020. Fresh for a 13 year old Cabernet.

Mid to dense Ruby. Herbaceous aromas with graphite and black currant. A sweet fluid palate showing black currant of medium plus intensity and partly resolved Tannins. Oak has been absorbed. In a great spot at the moment - excellent balance. Drink remaining 4 bottles in next few years but it is essentially at its peak. A really good wine but from an Aussie point of view tasting more South East than West Australia. Had another bottle 25 weeks later on the 6th October 2020 with consistent notes. The main feature was that it was less herbaceous than it usually is for Margaret River. Showing more ripe berry fruit and cassis in this warmer year. More McLaren Vale in style. Still very good.

Medium plus body and medium plus intensity. Fuller bodied and less herbaceous than the normal Moss Wood Cabernet. Black currant notes. I heard an interview recently with winemaker and owner Keith Mugford who said he is trying to avoid green notes in the wine and would prefer to pick a little later and err on the side of ripeness. I think that’s what happened here and probably more so the following year in 2009. Still a lovely wine. The first of 6 - next one in a year.
