Clear rich Crimson in colour. Whiff of wood varnish which blew off. Spicy - not as much pepper as usual. Cherries and supple savoury tannins. Medium bodied. One of my favourite Aussie Reds in the $20 to $30 category. 2nd ranked cuvée to their much vaunted "Langi" Shiraz. Tasted again 54 weeks later with totally consistent notes. Tasted beside Salo Syrah, from the much vaunted Hawkes Bay NZ District for Syrah. I preferred the Langhi.

2012 vintage. Cliff Edge is the junior sibling to "the Langi" which is the premium cuvée offered by Mount Langi Ghiran - the latter being one of my favourite Australian Shirazes. The Cliff Edge has an expressive spicy, white pepper nose showing its cool climate origins. Medium bodied and easy to drink with or without food.

Pepper/licorice dominates for me. Jubey black fruits. Plush, maybe a bit slippery, super fine tannin. Was looking for something a bit firmer, more savoury as a cool climate shiraz. Winefront says better the next day .. Will have to keep the next bottle going longer.

Deep garnet color with decent aromas and taste of blueberry, vanilla, and mint leaf on the nose and palate. Full-bodied, ripe fruits, rough but firm texture & tannins, and short spicy length. Good party wine but don't let it breath.

Powerful, full bodied Aussie Shiraz but without being overripe or over extracted. High alcohol but balanced by lush fruit, grippy tannins and good acidity. Needs plenty of air but if you can be patient, give it at least 3 more years. Exceedingly good wine for its price point.
