Myriad Cellars
Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III Cabernet Sauvignon
A wonderful mature California Cabernet which is beautiful at this point in it’s life. Full bodied with gravel and fruit beautifully blending. Looking forward to the first bite of beef with this beauty. Great job Mike Smith.

May 28th, 2022@Mark Flesher and I decided to do a 2014 Napa Cab battle from two of Napa’s top winemakers...TRB and Mike Smith.
In comparison to the Rivers-Marie, this was darker and more savory. There were crushed rock/graphite and charcoal toasted blueberry and blackberry aromatics. Plush and inviting. On the palate, this was incredibly silky with beautiful structure. The palate showed Beckstoffer GIII typical notes of cinnamon, dust, baked black cherry and some cardamom. A wonderful and textbook example of this site from a talented winemaker. Bravo @Mike Smith

George III is my least favorite vineyard from the Grand Cru Beckstoffer site however, @Mike Smith has done a magnificent job with this offering and changes all that. 2 hour decant and the tannins are supporting the wine and nearly not in play. I can’t get over the balance of this wine...fruit, acid and tannins are in perfect harmony. Nice offering!

Jul 12th, 2018@Mike Smith thanks for spending the afternoon with Jen and I. Not sure I need to say a lot, its Mikes Wine! Just all around a superb wine-full bodied and lush in the mouth. Savory hint of fresh herbs and muddled blue fruits. Wonderful, soft finish showing great balance of tannins and fruit.

Dec 3rd, 2016Decanted about 5 hours before dinner and showing very nicely; inky black in the glass, tannins were in line and played well with the dark currant and berry flavors. Although a little less full than the Empyrean, definitely one of my favorite GIII wines.
