Nugan Estate
Alcira Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
This is the second Coonawarra Cab I’ve drank, and holy cow what’s up with the green pepper?! The nose just can’t get around it...but if, somehow, you can, you’ll find ink, black pepper and runty black currants. That palette follows a similar path, although without the same level of domination from the green pepper (it’s still there, though). The finish brings nuanced oak notes, refined tannins and a nice bit of length, but unless you love big bell pepper notes in your Cab, this one probably isn’t for you.
