Paul Hobbs
Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Deep ruby red with high intensity. Dark and brooding nose with lots of baking spices, smoked berries, and blackberries. Nose carried and easy to smell as soon as we opened the bottle. Heavy tannins (8/10) and full bodied. Thick and plush palate with notes of dark cocoa, dark berries, both black and red. Super long and lingering finish. Absolutely delicious and easy to see where this will go in a few years since two hours was nowhere close to a long enough decant. Drink from 2017 till 2030.

1 person found it helpfulDec 10th, 2016Do you know how when you build something up in your mind and then it arrives and it is not quite what you thought. Well I guess is one of those times. Don’t get me wrong this is a good wine. Just did not live up to my idea of what it was going to be. Opens on the nose with leather and dusty fruits and maybe a touch of coco. Drank after two hours of decanting. Thinking it needs at least another hour. Palate had licorice and dark fruits. The acid to me was a touch high but okay. Fruits seemed to fade a bit towards the finish, which I wished lasted longer. It does have some really nice things going on but will revisit with longer decant and see what happens.
