A great value wine, waxy mouth feel with a heavy notes of pineapple and banana flavoring. I would believe you if you told me this was grown in California vs Oregon. Super extracted and ripe. Not a bad thing, per se, but it shows exactly what price point this is made for.

2015 Vintage- A good entry level Oregon PG, too much fruit and a little too aggressive on the palate, not as refined as others.

Glinting straw yellow and laden with aromatics of d'Anjou pear, lemon curd, petrichlor, lily of the valley, and a lilting top note of cinnamon stick. The 2015 Pike Road Pinot Gris is winsome and engaging with a light crisp palate that offers almost as much complexity as the nose. Honeydew melon emerge on the back palate, lightly tinged in minerality and spice. This is a really nice example of an Oregon Pinot Gris. 13.5% ABV | Sample

While counting and reorganizing wine today, i discovered the 2015 Pike Road Wines Pinot Gris, Willamette Valley ($15, sample) while looking for something to pair with a pork chop, which works well with both white and softer, fruitier red wines. I tasted this and holy moly! This wine reminds me why I should seek out more Pinot Gris (after I've made room in my closet). Its luscious aromas and flavors of tropical fruits, sour apple, lime, and spice, are just what I needed.

This wine doesn’t have the cool climate refinement I expect from Oregon wines, but it’s still quite quaffable! Honeysuckle and lemon with a waxy mouth feel, good for the $.
Elk cove’s second label, cheap and cheerful!
