Bierzo Mencía

Very complex earth tones. As this opens up the fruit is revealed.

Hard to beat for the price. Classic producer in Bierzo DO.

Gorgeous starbright ruby in the glass. Morello cherry, hibiscus, iced tea, crushed dill. Might be a little past its prime.

Mencia; Think Cabernet franc goes to Spain. A floral nose with a decent amount of spice, some subtle plummy dark fruits and some red fruit notes, and aggressive vanilla and caramel notes from the oak. Medium tannins and Medium-bodied on the palate, with the red fruits showing on the palate and a tad spicy on the finish. Finish is a bit short, but a tasty Spanish wine. (Note there's a bit of Bret showing in my bottle, but blows off after decanting)

One of my favorites - takes me back to a great day in Sevilla every time I open a bottle.
