Really juicy with lots of acid and almost passion fruit notes. Lovely — 3 months ago
Great value in this elegant red. A treat for Gammay and fresh Pinot Noir fans. Red fruit driven, fine ripe strawberries, cherries, nice acid, sharp. Yet light, super pleasant in the attack, though the aftertaste is a bit short and fruit deprived, and I feel it lacks complexity for scoring more than 9 — a month ago
Great wine with great company — 2 months ago
Always fun to explore an indigenous varietal from Spain - especially when Alvaro Palacios is involved. I found this Mencia wine to be medium bodied with good acidity and structured tannins that were present in this young wine but not obnoxiously so. The fruit is darker dried red fruit that proved to be a good compliment with grilled shishito peppers. It was so nice to dive into a new aspect of Spain’s wine history. — 3 months ago

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple of hours. The 2020 “Pétalos” pours a deep purple color with a magenta rim and an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with ripe and tart black fruits: blackberries, black cherry, salmiakki, horse blanket, and mixed earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. A crazy, ambitious wine that’s the result of assembling over 300 plots. Between Raúl Perez and Palacios, Mencia doesn’t get much better. Drink now through 2030. — 6 days ago
