Montosoli Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2018
My review is of Altesino Brunello….Not Montosoli, the single vineyard. I hope this does not confuse everyone.
If I had the opportunity to drink Montosoli…I would in a heartbeat.

Sauvignon Blanc 2022
2022 vintage.
Severine Pinte is the wine maker and she is incredibly talented.
767 cases made. Battonage twice a week for first 2 months then once a week. 5 months on the lees.
Elderflower, lime pith, grapefruit, gooseberries and guava.
Herbaceous with slight tropical fruit.
Crisp, crisp, crisp acidity with only 11 % alcohol by volume.
Bring on the fresh oysters.

2020 vintage.
The blend is Posip, Vuguva and a bit of Chardonnay from Dalmatia, Croatia.
Brilliant, shiny, green and gold.
Herbal, citrus and guava on the nose.
Figs, green apple and unripe Bosc pears.
Round mouth feel with medium acidity on the finish.
This is definitely a food wine.
I would grill whole Branzino or octopus.
Chicken roasted with Dijon mustard, garlic, lemon and parsley would shine with this wine. — a month ago

2022 vintage.
100 % Chardonnay in stainless steel.
No oak. This is not Château 2 by 4.
Very Chablis like.
Bright Macintosh, Gala, Cosmic Crisp, green apples and almond with a laser beam of acidity on the crisp, fresh finish. Your friends who hate Chardonnay….please pour them a glass of this. — 2 months ago

Tenuta Nuova Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2007
2007 vintage.
Dried Bing and Lapin cherries on the nose with hints of fig.
Plums, dark cherries, tobacco, sandalwood and dried roses.
Smooth well developed tannins combining well with persistent, yet still mouth watering acidity.
Such a gentle, smooth and refined finish.
It hurts me to say this is my last bottle. — 17 days ago

Okanagan Valley VQA Old Vines Riesling 2018
2018 vintage.
100 % Riesling from Block 5. A 2 acre vineyard in size.
Pale straw yellow. Stoney lime juice, tangerine, kiwi and white flowers.
Crisp and dry with bracing acidity and minerality on the finish.
All hand picked fruit and whole bunch pressed.
Spends 4 months on the lees then aged 2 years in bottle before release.
This wine is built for long term aging.

Poggio alle Gazze Toscana Sauvignon Blanc 2020
2020 vintage.
69 % Sauvignon Blanc, 22 % Vermentino, 5 % Viognier and 4 % Verdicchio.
Hand picked and whole cluster gentle pressing. In Barriques, 25 % new, 25% used and 50 % steel tank and concrete.
No malo fermentation.
6 months on fine lees contact with regular batonnage and 12 months in bottle. Pale straw yellow.
Crisp, racy acidity with freshness and complexity.
White flowers, white grapefruit, sage, aromatic herbs and fresh cut grass.
Very impressive.

100 % Arneis grapes from vineyards in La Morra, Alba, Guarene and Castagnito in Piedmont.
Stainless steel ferment with several months resting on the lees.
Pale straw yellow in colour.
Acacia and yellow flowers with dried Chamomile, green apple, ripe peach and crushed stone.
A slightly bitter but fresh finish makes this wine perfect for Vitello Tonnato or whole grilled fish on the BBQ. — 5 days ago
