An intense, vibrant, dark and spicy interpretation of Sangiovese that worked utterly perfectly with a rich roast. Captivating in its complexity, this wine was a hit at home. I also like that Poggio Scalette is tiny and family run. One can taste their commitment to this wine.

Very dark Sangiovese, especially for a 8 year old wine, but surprisingly fresh and long. Fruit-forward with berry and spice notes.

Beautiful expression of Sangiovese... Not like these new school overly fruit-forward Tuscan wines. Masculine, leather, balanced tannin... 2009 not a heralded vintage, but this was a very enjoyable wine.
