Jan 1st, 2015...WOW!!! This opened up magnificently... I cracked about 10AM this morning and served at Christmas Eve dinner after a bottle of Opus and two of the guests thought I was serving the same wine... Now Prime may not be the same as Mr. Mondavi and Mr. Rothchild... Still surprisingly good. Would Definetely go out of my way to find this very... Excellent bottle Col...

Dec 14th, 2015Tonight we are drinking Prime Nappa Valley 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon from Coombsville. Ted Henry is the wine maker. The cork is perfect with a sharp minimal absorption line. My first disappointment came with the boquet. My initila thought was, "Oh crap, I spent that much on a cheap restaurant wine!" I cant really describe it any other way. The redeming quality was the initial palate. If you hold your breath you can taste blackberry and currant. The finish is sharp and dry on the mid tongue and roof of the mouth. The finish has a sour twang that usually represents a winevtgats been open for a couple of days!
Dont bother trying this one!!!!!! There are far higher quality wines at a fraction of the price!!!!
