Lytton Springs Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel Blend

Dusty, dried red fruit with buckets of spice. Subtle tannin and silky texture. Age treats Ridge so well. This has years of life left but drinking beautifully now.

2005 in 3 liter. Perhaps close to its peak; layered, evolving plum and berries, some dried. Some spice and wind-blown seaside plants. Long. #delicious and perfect with the 14-pound lobster @ridgevineyards

More perfumed and delicate than the geyserville of the same vintage. Still, ruddy delicious.

More oak forward (even for Ridge) than expected; that said, lovely with a decant along with brisket.

I think Ridge is 247 and 1 with me. And the bad bottle they replaced. They are a flagship.

I had seen this bottle on the wine list (for only around €75) for a while but been worried it might be past its peak. But there is nothing to be afraid of here. Just an excellent example of how well quality old vine Californian Zin-blends can age in the skilful hands of the team at Ridge. Large ripe berries, spice, orange peel, dark chocolate, liquorice and charcuteries. Flavourful, expressive and balanced. Very enjoyable.

Mature with great balance and taste. Superb.

More fruit than the 2006, prefer the 06 classic style over the 05.
