This took quite some time to open up. It started off a bit awkward and then really blossomed over the next few hours. Some fruit there along the way but mostly secondary notes of game and funk. This is nice and ready to drink.

Yes soft and very approachable nose dark cherries and great acidity fruit still totally accessible. Nice acidity l. Minor notes of oxygen and prunes. This baby might not have hit its apex yet!

So much fruit, so fresh and vibrant, I would never peg this for '76 blind. Outstanding

This was underwhelming with ripe fruit & maybe would have been better 5 yrs ago. Expected more

Robert Ampeau & fils Volnay santenots 1er cru 1976

An earthy nose and mid palate are intertwined with cherries, strawberries, and rounded acidity (still very present after 38 years.) Still a hint of spice throughout, and an incredibly silky mouthfeel. Subtle, lingering finish
