Incredible. Jaboulet family apparently inconsistent in final years of ownership, but this one had everything. So dense still, with lots of kalamata olive, olive brine, cherry, blackberry, black pepper, leather, cured meat, earth. Savory, sweet, powerful, elegant, hit every end of the taste spectrum. Super long. In magnum — 8 years ago
Couldn't coax this one out. Kind of disjointed, maybe on the road to premox? — 8 years ago
Honey, almond, apricot, lemon, lime, laced with lots of acid and crushed rock. Dense yet super refreshing — 8 years ago
Silky tannins. Obvious oak, but on 2nd tasting, fruit much more forward than oak. Very dense, classic Nebbiolo flavors, raspberry, cranberry, violets, savory too, lots of length. Having tried both old and new school, I love the purity of fruit and flavor from big botte, but this is also clearly well made, almost like good burgundy vs good Bordeaux. — 8 years ago
This had a lot less oak on it than other magnien I've tried. Masses of red fruit, raspberry, strawberry, even some black cherry. Vanilla, clove behind the fruit, some sous bois. A little too boisterous for my taste, but maybe that can be resolved with time. — 8 years ago
Took a 2 hours of decanting to coax this one out of its shell. Very floral, lots of strawberry and a little cranberry. Dense on the mid palate, sight sous bois undertone. Whole bunch characteristics, very pure fruit qualifies, slight slight herbal edge. Bitterness on the finish wouldn't shake — 8 years ago
