Honestly, I'm pretty disappointed, this wine lacks the pyrazinic stuffing i like about cab franc. Not getting any bell pepper, leather, peppercorn or anything like that. This is too ripe and just flashed up. Its hot, bottle says 14.3 but I'm not buying it. I usually enjoy Venges work but this doesn't punch in the 60$+ weight class. Pretty one dimensional cherry red fruit, spicy oak dominates the nose and finish. Decanted and waited, i was hoping some of the heat would blow off and some fruit complexity would come out it didn't happen. Not stoked about what i spent at all.

Sugared plums, baking spice, red fruit. Perhaps a bit of R/S. M- acid, m body, m/m+ tannin. Black fruit on the palate. Long finish.

Great wine. Rich, yet balanced with nice tannin and acidity. Admittedly, being at a client dinner didn't let me take full notes. But this was outstanding.

Dark fruits, cherry and tobacco. It's good.

Went great with the meal, nice flavor with blackberry, black currant, tobacco, and medium tannins. Duck, cauliflower and gruyere gratin, arugula salad w dried cranberries. Nice middle ground between Pinot Noir and Cab Sauv.

So the cab franc is typically a mixer but this Keenan is pure money. A little more of a bite than usually cabs which makes it nice. Yes more tabacco & leather.
