DW-Old Barossa Valley Syrah
Nothing to add to my previous note of May 11, 2019 nearly 3 years ago. I must admit I don’t see a lot of savoury development with time in cellar. They are delicious when you first open them and 3 years later, much the same with that solid core of old vine fruit and silky tannins still dominating proceedings.

Mar 6th, 2022This the oldest of Fraser’s premium cuvees I have in my cellar. As we know often several vintages are combined but this one is only from the excellent 2013 vintage I believe. It smells silky let alone the palate. Black and blue fruits - dense concentrated supple and silky on the palate with a slight pruney note. The old vine fruit shining through. These old vines were planted between 1888 and 1912 - only 2.12 hectares and 3074 bottles filled. Quality as always. Looking forward to seeing how these wines age but pretty irresistible now.

May 10th, 2019First bottle of this rendition...
Decanted 3 hrs before serving.
Wow.
Stupendous wine. Dark fruit, black peppercorns, black olives, bbq-meat. Tannins are ultrafine, superripe and -silky. Magnificant old-worldly acidity. Great balance and harmony. Nothing in here is too sweet nor cloying. Still extremely primary in its fruit, I can only try to imagine what this badboy will turn into when given 5 years of extra cellartime.
Rock-star juice.
Grab some bottles from this producer. If you can find them.
