Contra Costa County Carignane

2014 drunk in 2024. Last bottle of this vintage. Still holds up and has more time in it. Lovely subtlety that does open up a bit with time. 

Family is home, but this solo dinner of arugula pets and baby potato pizza and Carignan, is spot on. Deep purple, slightly elevated (VA? Hints) aromas of mulberry, bramble fruits and distinct leathery old world bent. High-ish acid.

A bit reduced but nice restraint

Touch more dark fruit, richness and chocolate than the California

Floral, mineral, wild berry, dusty tannin. I've got one more 2014 and 2015 on the way. Woot!

Savory, mineral, and game. Lip smacking.

This wine should only come in magnum. A 750 ml is just a tease. Flowers and berries and minerals on the nose. Sleek and concentrated in the mouth, with the complexity growing the longer it is in the glass. Wish I had more than one bottle left. A kaleidoscope of flavors. And only 12.8% abv. One more bit of proof that Tegan Passalacqua knows what he is about.

Very nice. lovely focus and just the right density and structure to support and offer pleasing juicy qualities without getting lazy. Merits the praise. Well done.

Dusty black and red fruits, med body, orange peel, mineral. Amazing QPR as always 😋
