Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

1hr+ decant. Dark purple color. More Bordeaux than Napa. Nose had anise, cedar, and dark fruit. Same on the palate with touches of smoke and tar. Medium plus depth and solid finish. Was a little tart, sour on occasion but overall very nice.

Nice full bodied lots of fruit - stone fruit and a very slight raisin note. Well balanced with a long finish.

This 2009 reserve is drinking nicely now. Lots of tobacco up front, then black cherry, a bit of raspberry, and minerality dominate the palette. Big wine that needed time to open up and show its stuff. Happy to have tried it, not quite sure it was my cup of tea (but it was close!)

A classic example of fine Napa Cabernet. Refined, big, polished but still showing unresolved tannins. Pairs beautifully with steak. Not my favorite Snowden over the years, but will look for the 2010 to compare.

Angry out of the bottle but definitely settles down with time into a very enjoyable cab. Cherry vanilla some oak light cigar box, light powdery tannin, some acidity, will cellar longer but good now. Better in 2 years. We got this for a steal at $50.

Still young, tight upon opening; relaxed beautifully after about 45 minutes.
