Really nice cab, especially for the under $30 crowd. Dark chocolate, cedar, black licorice, smoking embers, and red currant frame the beautifully fragrant nose. The palate consists of stewed sweet cherries, blackberries, tar, leather, and pipe tobacco. A great balance between old world rusticity and new world hedonism - once again proving that Spier does not know how to make a bad wine.
100% Cabernet, 50% new French oak, for 18 months.
