Opens with bright cherry on the palate and finishes with black fruit and tobacco. Wine gets better as it sits in the glass and starts to take on vanilla and malolactic characteristics. The tannins are firm but well integrated. Wine was good to drink upon opening but offered more when decanted and is better suited to be paired with food. The boldness of the wine seems like it could sit for a couple years in the cellar to mellow out and show more subtler secondary and tertiary characteristics.
