Gimblett Gravels Syrah

not rated because I have a rooting interest in its success, but so glad this wine is stateside.

How is this not a Crozes??? Blind taste a know it all Somm.

There's more to New Zealand than (awesome) Sauv Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. I love the savory Syrah coming out of GG!

New Zealand syrah...and it's good. Well, I'll say.

This is a big-ass, meaty, peppery punch in the mouth that is seriously delicious. Long finish that you don't want to end.

Super savory. I love NZ Syrah. Hawkes Bay may be one of the world's premiere Syrah growing regions. Fantastic wine.

This was one hell of a blind tasting. On blind luck I think, (no pun intended) I got the year and major region (NZ). The varietal had me beat as, for me, the intensity wasn't there, on the palate (like on a Rhone Valley Syrah). Fun one for sure and a favorite of mine from Syrah.

Good ripe black berry aroma. Smooth but powerful medium body. Acid and spicy. Smoke, black berry, meaty.
