I love this wine. so minty and rhubarb and toast on the nose. It breaks barriers it breaks anything I’ve known in wine so far. Pure old vine #carignan with a pinch of #syrah

Second bottle of this, from a mixed bunch of Vinos del Viento I grabbed a few months back. Just as good as the first, huge character from a varietal that doesn't always get it's dues. Fair enough, as not many carignan wines offer complexity like this bottling. Love it 🥰🍒🌿🧱

Excellent QPR!
Nose: Roses on stems, raspberries, red plums, white pepper, warm dusty earth, smoke.
Palate: Sweet but tart raspberry candies up front, roasted red plums, craisins, smoke, lots of herbs on the mid-palate, bramble, flowers and stems, white pepper, vanilla, chocolate, and a touch of bitterness on the finish.
Sooo good with smoky octopus with bacon smashed potatoes and Romesco sauce:

85% Carignan, 15% Syrah
Iron bearing soil profile, undecipherable herbal/camphor/resinous note, barrel and old vine wood notes, slight non-brett funk (dunno, ?Flor?, interesting) fruit profile is darker than expected and the darkest fruit profile Ive had with Carignan.
Needs a 1-2 hr decant
Very interesting, fantastic QPR. Interested in exploring producers portfolio, and revisiting this and other vintages of Carignan.

Dense, powerful old vine carignan that takes it's time opening up. Layered with black fruit, sage, five-spice and ferrous red clay. One of the most mineral driven reds I've had in a while. Just enough acid to avoid heaviness, with the alcohol mostly in check. Has another 5 years ahead, but very nice now. 🥩🌿🧱
