Drank the 2011 with pulled pork and smoked chicken. Enough acid to cut through the big BBQ. Medium body and tannins. Some smoke, oak, and a bit of vanilla from 16 mo in US and FR casks. Only fruit coming from the 15% Garnacha. Otherwise the 85% Tempranillo lays down good dusty old vine notes.

Subtle tertiary balsamic notes of damp earth that emerge on the nose, underneath mahogany tinged dark fruit. The palate is surprisingly crisp and shows sweet, yet green edged cherry flavors with a slightly grainy texture and notes of mushroom and vanilla underneath. The finish is mellow with woodsy blackcurrant flavors that blend with notes of red apple and chalk.
