Slowly unfurling nose of herbs, sour cherry, stone and incredible mineral complexity. This is my 4th Chat Sauvage 17 and these maybe the most mineral German pinots I’ve ever had. They also take a very long time to open and unfurl. Deep and stoney and slowly a perfume develops. Palate is superb. Wow. Elegant, concentrated and saturating. Early season and sour cherries abound on a bed of crushed rock dust. Dry and chalky tannins but are intermingled with terrific fruit. Sweet and high quality tannins and such terrific freshness. Wow. This is sick. Such a seriousness to it. What a long finish. So refined and fine. This is top class stuff. Wow the nose gets going after 15-20 minutes. Amazing perfume. A baby now and will surely improve over a decade. So deep. This is superb and has impressed me. Almost a 9.6 and I am not ruling it out.
