Weingut Keller
-RR- Rheinhessen Riesling
Mind blowing. From a third of a hectare that contains a concentrated amount of red iron within a sea of limestone. There’s just a touch of residual sugar, which combined with the electric acidity reveals a wine of extraordinary depth and complexity. Flambéed peach, lime zest, lemon juice, and wet stone, with a salty and sweet finish that is hard to put into words. Stunning.

1 person found it helpfulSep 9th, 2018Essentially, a declassified Grand Cru, made with grapes from the Kirchspiel GG Grosses Gewächs in Westhofen (at 11 g/liter, the wine’s residual sugar levels in 2016 exceeded the VDP 9g/l maximum, so the wine couldn’t carry the GG label). The nose is complex and explosively fruity, with aromas of citrus, passion fruit and minerals and hints of petrol. While this is certainly ripe and rich, there is still plenty of acidity to buffer the modest residual sugar in question. Elegant, lively

Dec 4th, 2022From a parcel of Kirchspiel rich in Iron that finished off dry. Quite savory, zesty spices, warm limestone, and definitively more powerful and broad than 16 Kirschpiel GG. An extremely well made wine that demands time imo.
