Sceales Vineyard Old Vine Grenache
What they said ⬇️... lots of great notes on this already. I’d add that the 2013 is still drinking fresh, with nice acid and plenty of fruit. Really a delight at the price too

Oct 22nd, 202085+ year #oldvines, pure sand soil, the winemaking expertise of @Pax Mahle. The result is a thrilling example of grape, terroir and winemaking union. The spicy, feisty side of #Grenache leaps forward carried by bright red fruit and racy acidity. Tannins rounded and freshness abounds thanks to fermentation in cement tank.

May 26th, 2015Really nice lively interesting take. Light Ruby colored with reticent nose that opened up after an hour and good acidic red fruited texture. Easy to go down with the Korean pork belly wrap after a day of drama.

Nov 22nd, 2021Soulfully structured. This could easily cellar for a decade, though it was great tonight with pasta marinara. Perhaps not a classic example of the varietal, but impressive Grenache flavor & aroma draped on a Côte de Nuits frame.

Mar 15th, 2016The best of all 10 Wind Gap wines I tried today. And one of the cheapest. 13.75% alc and it shows. Love the Jolly Rancher strawberry flavor. Gum coating tannins. Wish more of their wines had this slight added layer of ripeness. From 85 year old vines grown on pure sand in Alexander Valley. Made in a concrete egg. A huge surprise.
