At this age, lots of secondary and tertiary flavors. Very smoky! Like you burned some bacon in the pan and then ground some fresh pepper on top. Scorched earth. I like it intellectually but the 13 was much more drinkable.

Fruit > Earth here, and that's the giveaway that it's from Cali not Cornas. But I'd forgive you if you thought differently - high toned, bright, floral and cut through with olive brine and smoked meat, this is a beautiful, accessible, maturing example of California cool climate Syrah. I'd guess this has more to say yet with additional cellar time... we'll see.

one of my favorite domestic syrahs. opened this to compare to JL Chave St. Joseph. Wind Gap shows more obvious fruit, seems to have a bit more lush mouthfeel. love 'em both

Elegant, yet meaty. Low alc, but not thin. One of the better Wind Gap wines I've had.

Better them my last bottle. A little more integrated. Lovely olive rustic qualities with sweet fruit.

Syrah that is so comfortable in its own Syrah skin. A confident wine.
