Wm. Harrison Vineyards & Winery (William Harrison)
Napa Valley Cabernet Franc
Wish I would've showed a little more self control and opened this guy in 2020. Darker side of fruit for most Napa Cab Francs that I run into and this wine was a little rough around the edges, which I welcomed because I sip on well behaved wines very frequently. Dark fruits and a solid sentencing of oak make this wine fall into the category of big, but not burly. Beyond is unique representation of the varietal, its a welcomed interpretation.

Dec 14th, 2014In my opinion, this is a pop and pour Cabernet Franc at this moment. I do not believe any additional years in bottle are going to make this one any better. This wine is ready to kick butt. Full bodied, glass coating wine. Nose of black fruit, tar, hint of iodine and some floral notes although the floral has gone from primary to secondary over the years of aging. Palate is rather consistent with the nose, but added some dark cocoa powder towards the finish. Good acidity throughout, but the edges on this wine have definitely softened. Finishes a little bit gritty, which I think is mostly tannin integration. I think this one will hang around for at least another five years. But, this one is drinking most certainly at peak.
