Against The Wind Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Franc

2009 vintage, apparently the first for this wine. From the cooler southern parts of Napa Valley, for what I could find on the internet this should be 80% cabernet franc, and the remainder Cabernet sauvignon and merlot. Much more evolved compared to the If six was nine cabernet sauvignon from the same vintage. Spicy nose with a hint of caramel, bacon and blackberry jam. Powerful and spicy in the mouth, good acidity but overall a bit monolithic. Good spicy length. Not in the same league as the "If six was nine" cabernet sauvignon, nor the impressive "Little Sister" Merlot. Abv.14,8 %.

Off the chain.

Pretty good. Nice core of red and black fruits, spice and good length.

Big and juicy, but eminently delicious, on the riper side of cab franc, no signs of tell tale veggies

Lots of tannins and intense. Ripe currant, tobacco and mineral flavors that build on the finish.

Wonderful nose, but a bit lackluster following. Quite smooth and elegant, but misses a bit of CF jolt. May be on the decline, but still enjoyable.

Dense and tannic with interesting notes of currant and mineral. A nice mouth watering wine.

Ageing well. Jonathan Maltus' Napa Valley take on Le Dome. Named after Bob Seger's "Against the Wind"

Ruby red. Hint of cherry or red fruits on the nose. Dry with flavored of currant, grapefruit and cedar. A hint of chalk finishes out.
