Big red blend coming from the X Winery people out of Napa. 75% Syrah with Merlot, Carignane, CabFranc & Petite Verdot rounding out the massively tannic blend. 4 days later the tannins are mellowing it but still showing structure. Dark Berry fruit on the nose. On the palate it's all brick earthy tones with cinnamon, mace along with other baking spices and tobacco. Tart Unripened plum skins on the short tannic finish. On its own, after multiple nights of being opened, it's still medium to full bodied tannins persisting. Grilling up some steaks as we type to see how the wine interacts with some fatty rib eyes😋😉🍷im sure the wine is better suited for food.

May 15th, 2016Dark, chalky, full bodied. Be careful when draining the last swallows.. there is sediment! But don’t be put off by that. This is a nice wine. Smoky, masculine, leathery, spicy with a hint of dark fruit and grapes(imagine that!) and blackberries.
