Yeringberg
Yarra Valley Marsanne Roussanne
A rich lemon in colour. A little honeysuckle note but not intensely varietal like a Southern Rhone white can be - aromatic and unctuous. Just medium bodied - a little elegant. Medium minus acid. First of 3. Drink the other 2 in the next year or so. Made by the long established de Pury family who are French who commenced making Marsanne at Yeringberg in the 1860’s and pioneered Roussanne in Australia in the 1980’s. A good wine but to be honest not as enjoyable as Guigals Cotes du Rhone Blanc using largely similar varietals for $24. I should add that Yeringberg make a benchmark Cabernet in the Yarra Valley. Tasted again 37 weeks later on 31/3/22 with similar notes - an apricot touch and unctuous mouthfeel. Same notes 5 months later on 26/8/22. Apricot and unctuous as stated.
