Anything from Tenor is amazing. It’s become one of my favorite lines of wine. Tenor produces limited releases of 100% single varietal Washington wines. In the US, wine laws allow wine producers to blend up to 25% of any additional varietals in a particular wine, w/out disclosing it to the consumer. Tenor has set out to produce pure 100% of the varietal. It’s pure, delicious wine that lets you taste the grape in all its glory. This one is black cherry, tea, spice & everything nice. A bit of olive. Heaven! — 6 years ago

Light and refreshing. I opened this up to use in a cream-based chicken recipe and ended up drinking the rest of the bottle. A bouquet of grapefruit, lemon peel, and sourdough toast made for a arousing first impression. A bit tart and dry at first sip with citrus, apple, a little bit of herb, and then a tart lemonade finish that turns to licorice after a minute or so. Sweeter the second and ongoing sips. Very fun for a light-ish wine. — 7 years ago

I LOVE this. It’s good right away without any time to breathe. Fruity aroma and jammy, dark fruit taste with slight sweetness. Perfect for non red drinkers-they’ll love this. A dry, red-favoring wine lover may not be so keen. This doesn’t need to be paired with food. Great sipping wine for conversation or just because. — 8 years ago

The winner of the Rainy Week Wine Awards is... the 2016 Rombauer Chardonnay! Oh my, this is extra big on pear and peach with just the right creaminess in mid palate. Perfectly balanced with acidity to make this my yum yum of the year. Okay, okay. So there’s no such thing as the Rainy Week Wine Awards. But I needed to create some excitement for returning from 80 degree Maui to 50 degree Seattle rain. And in all seriousness, get yourself a bottle of the 2016. It was harvested earlier than usual so it’s extra lush. Buy it! You won’t be sorry. 🤩 — 7 years ago

Oh yeah! This is an impressive party wine. It’s sealed with a beautiful wax overlay that you need to break off to uncover the cork. A nose of blackberry, blueberry, pepper and slight cedar. So smooth... yet complex. Flavors are similar to the bouquet with a medium acidity that’s balanced very well with the dark fruit. Amazing! — 7 years ago

This had a bouquet more reminiscent of a Sauvignon Blanc than a Chardonnay with bright crisp green apple and grapefruit. This has two flavor profiles: without the correct pairing it is dryer and a bit bitter and acidic on the finish—not too impressive. With a dry, salty Parmesan it was buttery, smooth, a bit sweeter and more balanced. Not a drink-alone wine. Enjoy it with food, especially something like hard cheese or a Chicken Parmesan. — 8 years ago

A refreshing addition to my last lunch on Maui. Stonefruit, pear, lemon, and mineral. A light buttery finish followed by a slightly bitter lemon peel note. I favor Lloyd and Rombauer a somewhat over this but still a top notch glass of wine. Great on a balmy 78 degree beach day!

Allowing for a quick 15 min breather will help the initial sharp edges smooth out. Even w/out a decanter this is still great. Intense aromas of dark fruit and red raspberry, earth, & caramel-vanilla. Initial taste is un-ripe red fruit with a bit of acidity, but not so much as to affect the overall smoothness. Initial flavor is followed by a “Whoa, what is that?” Tobacco, mocha, herbs, earth? It has some fun complexity that morphed the longer it decanted. Nice, long finish makes for an enjoyable evening. — 7 years ago

This was the red wine served in a cooking class I took in Seattle. I had already consumed too much food to give this an accurate description on flavor. But it had an unusual, pleasing finish and I’m looking forward to trying it again. It drank smoothly with the Mushroom Ragout and Polenta it was served with—they each complemented the other nicely. — 8 years ago
