Connoisseur of spontaneous fermentation and graceful wines.
When oranges wines are a dime a dozen, it is a special moment to drink one as epic as this. Golden brown and translucent. Very sherry-like against the light. There definitely is a sharp acidity but kept in check by aromas of dark fruit, honeyed tea, and an intriguing incense-like note. Taste is smooth and rich with citrus fruits, dried appricot, and a touch of sweetness. Medium-length finish and there is definitely some lingering tannin. This is a skin-contact wine to contemplate that keeps on giving. Very food-friendly, too. — 3 years ago
Gold and slightly cloudy. Funky, yeasty, and sulphur on the nose, like sticking your nose in a barrel of lambic. There is also something savory going on. Light-bodied and tart. Apricots, grapefruit, and stone, with a short, mildly bitter finish. Fermentation in fiberglass and amphorae give this a relatively clean (i.e. no oak) profile. The tannins will catch up with you later. — 4 years ago
With just a few days of skin contact under its belt, this wine straddles the line between a rich white and orange wine. Appearance is translucent gold. On the nose this wine is soft and quiet with some subtle citrus, honey, and stone. Dry and light-bodied, with a crisp tart apple and botanical flavor. Finish is on the shortish side with a hint of tannin. Overal a balanced, elegant affair. — 4 years ago
Bold and potent but not devoid of sophistication. Aroma of plum, chocolate, liquorice, oak, and spice. Ripe dark fruit and chocolate dominate the palette with a touch of pepper. Smooth tannins and long finish. This has both power and finesse and can be paired with chocolate desert. — 4 years ago
Pale, translucent orange. Bright tropical fruit. Maritime. Minerals and stone. This tastes quite clean for 6 months of skin contact. Light bodied and dry. Tart and citrus fruits. Short finish. Pleasant but not too complex. — 4 years ago
Cloudy gold. Savory, balsamic, black tea, nutty, and stone fruit aroma. Tart, bruised apple, and pickles. Medium-length finish with mild tannins. Interestingly, this smelled a lot mellower on the second day, like an orange popsicle. I also think I favor consuming this wine a little colder than most orange wines. — 4 years ago
This is a wild one. Dark yellow and cloudy. That this unfiltered skin-contact white with little sulfur has some brett on the nose is almost redundant to mention. Aroma of funky citrus fruits, most notably peach and tangerine. Light bodied, tart apple, lime, orange, with some bitterness. Tannins are there but a minor player. Not terribly complex but this has an attractive ancestral appeal. — 4 years ago
