Explosive blackberry liqueur, caramel, toasted oak, licorice, and plenty of heat even after 13 years. But unlike newer vintages, the rock n roll tannins have mellowed, leaving a creamy and smooth finish but still layered and a mild bite. Just proves these wines need age... lots of it. But in a great year, worth the wait. — 8 years ago
Fantastic. Dense fruit, blueberry, pine tree and then oak. But floral and effervescent. Light and acidic mouthfeel, chalky tannins that suggest another ten years easy. A little bitterness on the finish that holds it back just a touch — 8 years ago
Strawberries and other tart fruits. Pinot in a Rhone body. Welcome to Austria. — 7 years ago
Perfectly good Cannes lunch drinkin' wine. — 8 years ago
Surprisingly good, super floral notes on the nose, violet, licorice. Layered with terrior, blackberry, and oak, solid lingering finish, nice and light, good balance. Solid value proving once again that in Bordeaux second wines over deliver in soft years. I'll buy a few of these. — 8 years ago

Huge olive, big earthy herbal notes, almost eucalyptus. Bright sour cherry, chalky and alive, long bitter finish. It is a weird and beautiful beast...back one hour later. Huge metamorphosis to a dark fruit bomb with butter brioche and bitter chocolate. In Mexico they call this El vino loco. — 8 years ago
This was sensational. Rich and creamy, layered but super smooth. Like drinking blueberry butter. — 8 years ago
These Daou wines are monsters, so I didn't have much patience on this '13 though time will serve it well. Strong but not overpowering notes of blackberry, cola, oak and a hint of smoke and lavender. A beautiful complex and layered nose. Smooth mouthfeel, creamy upfront and then a good bite emerges from these youthful tannins. Nice lingering finish that leaves your mouth nice and chalky. Will come back to this wine in 2-3 years with high expectations. — 8 years ago
