Huge olive, big earthy herbal notes, almost eucalyptus. Bright sour cherry, chalky and alive, long bitter finish. It is a weird and beautiful beast...back one hour later. These Daou wines are monsters, so I didn't have much patience on this '13 though time will serve it well. Strong but not overpowering notes of blackberry, cola, oak and a hint of smoke and lavender. A beautiful complex and layered nose. Smooth mouthfeel, creamy upfront and then a good bite emerges from these youthful tannins. Nice lingering finish that leaves your mouth nice and chalky. Will come back to this wine in 2-3 years with high expectations. — 8 years ago
